The mission of the Student Development Division is to enhance the whole-person development of students. We provide a safe learning environment for the students, empowering them to be spiritually mature, wise and informed, artistic, physically robust, creative and civic-minded.

Upholding the tradition and educational belief of the Hong Kong Baptist University, we aim to develop students to be contributing global citizens with national pride at heart. We focus on exploring students’ potential in an environment where East meets West. Moreover, we help students develop a sense of belonging to the school through various Positive Education programmes and activities. In turn, students can better cope with their stress and challenges in daily life, and ultimately have a flourishing life.

 

We guide our students and foster their personal growth with the Positive Education essentials to:

  • build a sense of purpose and meaning in life
  • establish a positive relationship with parents, school members, society and the nation
  • cultivate positive emotion, engagements in learning
  • foster perseverance and “Growth mindset”
  • distinguish the right from the wrong and show acceptance towards varied values
  • develop independent learning skills, particularly self-management skills and collaboration skills
  • use their character strengths in ways that support the self and others
  • build a positive, healthy lifestyle

Our Student Development Division is divided into different sub-divisions which include Student Management & Support, Student Advancement and Support, Moral & Civic Education, Guidance and Home-School Liaison.

Year Theme: Think S.M.A.R.T., Choose Wisdom

Theme Focus: Think Smart, Choose Wisdom — Every Choice Shapes Who You Are

To be a SMART learner, students are encouraged to reflect on how their daily decisions, big and small, build their character and future. Each letter of SMART highlights a key action in making wise choices:

  • S – Sensible: Stop and think! Use your head to make safe and smart choices.
  • M – Make Good Choices: Choose to be kind, helpful, and honest in everything you do. A – Ask & Act: Ask questions to learn new things, and then do the right thing!
  • R – Respect & Reflect: Treat others nicely, and think about how you can grow from what you do. 
  • T – Try Your Best: Keep trying hard and take charge of your own learning journey!

 

To bring the annual theme "Think S.M.A.R.T., Choose Wisdom" to life, our school seamlessly weaves strategic thinking and moral discernment into every dimension of the student experience. In life education, students engage in reflective workshops and values-based scenario discussions, learning to weigh the long-term ethical implications of their everyday choices. Complementing this, our guidance programs empower students to set structured personal and academic goals using the S.M.A.R.T. framework, paired with peer-mentoring sessions that cultivate self-regulation, resilience, and sound judgment. The physical environment reinforces these lessons through intentional campus decoration, featuring interactive goal-tracking walls, thematic student art, and daily wisdom prompts that encourage thoughtful reflection throughout the school day. Together, these interconnected educational experiences ensure students develop not only sharp analytical skills to navigate modern challenges, but also the grounded moral clarity needed to act with purpose and integrity.
